Part 6: Our 15 Seconds of Fame

Well, the audience was told to start clapping again as the show logos and the audience came up on the monitors--and there we were! Because we were on the far right of the theater, this being where the boom camera began it's swing, we were the first people in the shot! It goes by fast, so look for me in khaki and Ross wearing an England jacket in the third row--OH YE-YEAH!

After the boom camera stopped panning, Alan Kalter did a voiceover bit about "Lost & Found at the Late Show," the items being some keys, a jacket, and a kitty.  Needless to say, guffaws all around. Back to commercial...

Blurry, but yes, that's me & Ross

Some dude at the show isn't gonna know what's
going on when he finds out he lost his call sheet!

After coming back, Dave abruptly said "we're running a little late, good night, thanks for watching," and waved to the camera as the credits and end music came up on the monitors.  After the credits and band stopped, Dave got on the mic and told us to have a great summer and to come back again.  And like that, it was over--Dave and the band left the stage as security personnel (I swear these guys are "connected") herded us unceremoniously out of the theater.  I desperately tried to get a cue card from the substitute cue card guy (Tony Mendez-not there), but no deal.  Damn.  On our way out the door of the theater, I saw an itinerary for the show laying on top of some cable next to the band area--and, after a second's worth of debate--nabbed it!  Yeehaw, I got my souvenir.  Because the Thursday AND Friday shows are taped Thursday, the call sheet had the lineup for the later show with Matt Damon as well.  I was pissed--we don't get to see "Will It Float?"

The show went by in a flash--so much so that I can't wait to go back again--which I will attempt to do again this year somehow.  Amazingly, I had gotten the tickets for this show after requesting them just the week before!  I think I just got lucky.

Anyhow, Ross and I headed back to hotel for a much needed nap.  Ross felt the need to throw envelopes on the floor while staring at me, and then turned on The Learning Channel to watch pandas rub their asses on trees.  That was the last image I had before falling asleep.
